Steve Mobbs was born in Eastbourne just after, but not as a result of, the Suez Crisis. He’s been about a bit, having lived in such challenging places as Damascus, Havana and Sunderland, but now lives in Ovingham, Northumberland with two elderly cats. And his family.
He’s been a policeman, a sailor, a diplomat and an actor. But don’t get too interested, he never had a real go at any of them. He can speak Restaurant Spanish and French, and is trying hard to learn German, all of which are an attempt to come across as academic. He has been known to sing a little, his baritone being the talk of the breakfast table. He can take a decent photograph, and cries easily at Brief Encounter and the football results when Crystal Palace are playing.
He can be contacted by shouting “free chocolate!” in the main street. It’s that sort of place, and he’s that sort of person.
